Video Poker Trainer App

Technology has advanced considerably in the recent years, and as always we would like to take advantage of the latest innovations to help us improve our game. Many of us have smart-phones in today’s world. Many of us also find that day to day living can be hectic, so being able to make strategic improvements to our game while on the go can be a huge advantage. There are 3 different types of app that can help us, so let's go over the best poker training apps:

1. Non Poker Apps

Ok, this might seem a little surprising at first. Aren’t we here to talk about poker apps? Well, we are, but an app doesn’t necessarily need to be specifically for poker in order to help us work on our game.
Note Taking App – For example Evernote and One-note. These are note taking apps which allow us to sync notes across various internet capable devices.
One way we can use this is to make note of strategic concepts on our computer which we can review later on our mobile phone when not home. It is even possible to copy and paste screenshots of various ranges, or links to hand histories for later viewing.
Video Player – It should be somewhat obvious that even a generic video player app which will often come included with our phone will allow us to watch training videos that we have downloaded previously. In most cases it will also be possible to stream such videos straight from the internet without need for a download. Naturally it will save on data costs if we pre-download however.

FREE Video Poker Trainer games! The best free card trainer game! Video Poker Trainer teaches you the proper cards to hold that allow you to make the most money from video poker. Nowadays, reading poker books or watching training videos is an obsolete technique. Studies have shown over and over again that the best way to master a skill is to have hands-on experience. This is why poker-training apps have conquered the poker training. Easy no-download video poker! Jacks or Better, Bonus, Double Double, Deuces, Joker Poker, total of 17 variations plus perfect play trainer. Video Poker Trainer. Playing video poker can get frustrating once you see your bankroll is headed south due to the wrong cards you discard and hold. Fortunately, you can easily find a trainer of video poker. Best Video Poker Trainer App/Sites. Play Video Poker Apps for Free Training, then play for real money online or in Vegas when ready. 888 Casino Worldwide Except USA and AU (Excluded) Ignition Video.

.pdf Reader – Again seems really obvious, but there is a wealth of information out there stored in poker books. Getting our favourite books in .pdf format can be great for long journeys or other time-wasting events.

2. Poker Site Apps

So here we are referring specifically to apps that are offered by the poker sites themselves. Most of the big poker sites now have a mobile version of their poker client which allows users to play poker hands while on the move.
One of the best ways to improve our poker game is simply to play poker. The following are some of the networks which offer poker apps for android, iphones, and others.
888 Poker

The list is by no means exhaustive, but having a mobile app is becoming a must-have feature of many online poker sites.
Playing on a mobile app cannot be compared to playing on a computer. Playing on a big screen will always provide a better experience.
It’s worth keeping in mind that multi-tabling via a mobile app is difficult at best, and not even supported in many cases. We will also lose access to certain additional features such as being able to see HUD stats on our opponents. Having said that, if it’s a case of doing nothing on a long train journey or being able to single table fast-format poker without a HUD, we’d probably choose to play anyway.

3. The Best Poker Training Apps

It's difficult to talk about specific apps because the available apps will naturally depend on which operating system we have on our phone. Here are a few that were in the google play store for Android devices.
Pokerstove – If we don’t know what pokerstove does then we have probably had our head under a rock for the last ten years. Pokerstove was the original equity calculator for poker players before newer more complex equity calculators were released.
In truth, while pokerstove was the original app, it doesn’t mean it’s currently the best. The mobile app is lacking compared to the original piece of software. The availability of equity calculators as mobile apps has exploded in recent times, and a quick search of the google play store for an equity calculator will yield many results to choose from.
The best thing is to check the ratings and try out each app that seems to be rated highly. A higher rated and seemingly better equity calculator is named “Equity App Free (Poker Odds)”.
Equity Battle – There are now an increasing number of apps that act as a poker coach. One of these appsis known as “equity battle” and is essentially an equity calculator turned into a game. Players proceed through levels estimating the equity of various holdings. Great for killing time and improving our equity estimates in the process.
Insta Poker Coach – Some apps take it a step further and attempt to give us a more thorough coaching experience. With creation assisted by professional players Insta Poker Coachallows us to play simulated hands where we are awarded points for the quality of our decisions. We will then be given advice on what is the best play and why. In some ways it’s like reading a strategy book on poker except the experience is much more interactive.
At this stage most other apps will be variations of the above. We have yet to see a very strong equity calculator with the current capabilities of computer software such as power-equilab or flopzilla, but more than likely it will only be a matter of time.
There are countless other ways to consider using our mobile to learn poker. Many of the activities we can do on a computer we can do on a phone. For example we can watch scenes from poker shows on youtube or even download the pokerstars.tv app. Perhaps we are even reading this article on our mobile phone.
If we don’t like the idea of playing for real money on our mobile, it’s also possible to find a number of play-money apps, either against human players or against bots. One of the largest play-money poker networks is known as Zynga poker, and it has a mobile app.
Also remember that avenues such as posting on forumsand chatting on skype are still available even from a mobile phone. So while we don’t get the full range of software that is available to us on a desktop or laptop, using our smartphone to help us train is a great idea for those times when we are on the move.

Improve on the Move

The possibilities are vast even at these early stages of mobile phone development. So it's completely up to us what we do with it. We know as poker players that one of the most important things we strive for is to maximise our efficiency. So if it's the difference between a long car journey where we do nothing, and a long car journey where we pick up several new poker concepts, then the latter has to be the smarter thing to do if we are serious about our game - and that includes using the best poker training apps available!

WPT Poker Trainer - iPhone & iPad Only

BestWPT Poker Trainer Apps For iOS
WPT Poker Trainer is a poker tutor app that is free to download for iPhone and iPad. WPT will help both new players and fans of the WPT shows to improve their game strategy. Once you have downloaded the app, you can log in instantly as a guest or create an account. New users get 100 free coins, which can be used to purchase additional coaching packs.
To start you play some sample hands, which are simulated like real game action. After you make a decision a screen will pop-up offering some advice about the hand and what the coaches think is the best way to play it in the current action. It also rewards you with points and coins and lets you know if you have selected the best move.
There are only 5 free sample hands that you can test out and to be honest they're not very good. I say this because each of the sample hands is strong and it’s very hard to incorrectly play a strong hand. You can preview and purchase additional coaching packs if you wish to.
The software runs very smooth and the graphics were above average. However, there was nothing that really stood out for me so I wouldn't recommend investing in the additional practice packs.

Insta Poker Coach Hold'em - iOS / Android

Insta Poker Coach Texas Hold'em
Insta Poker Coach Texas Hod'em is available for both iOS and Android devices. Unfortunately, it is basically identical to the WPT Trainer app that we reviewed above. There are, however, a few subtle changes in the gameplay. For instance, you can write a player description for each opponent, which should help you in your decision making. Also, if you haven't scrolled down to read the coach's input, you will be prompted to read the information.
We like that Insta Poker Coach offers hands for cash and tournament simulations as it gives recreational or beginner players a realistic playing environment to practice making correct decisions.
Insta Poker Coach felt like an improved version of WPT poker trainer and the additional features make it a better choice for a training app.

Poker Trainer - Available On iPhone & Android

Poker Trainer App for iPhone/Android
Pokertrainer tries a different approach to helping you improve your poker game. It looks more at the mathematical side of the game and also runs through some hand ranking/strength and positional play tests.
My first impression was that the software is very sloppy and has basic graphics. It is also doesn't feel easy to navigate and takes a while to find your way around the various features.
The app offers a series of quizzes ranging from simple tests on your hand reading skills, to testing out your maths for pot odds. The answers for most of the quizzes are multiple-choice selections so you won’t have to crunch the numbers to the exact decimals.
The quizzes are really good for learning about a basic ABC strategy that you can work your game around. For example, in the preflop trainer quiz it will ask you “what should you do most of the time?” and have a simulated hand where you select one of 3 options based on your hand strength. You have a time limit and the more you get right, the longer you can keep testing yourself.
After an initial first bad impression, I’ve found this app to be surprisingly good. I would highly recommend upgrading to the premium version. Overall I liked the Pokertrainer app as it gives the player a good understanding of the fundamentals of poker to base their game around.

Poker Notes Live - iPhone & Android

Poker Notes Live - Poker Tutor App
If you are an online player poker that uses tracking software to keep track of your notes, you may feel a little clueless when you hit the live felt. This app could be the solution.
Poker Notes Live does its best to mimic other products such as Holdem Manager and PokerTracker for online poker so that you can also manually track your own stats and notes when you play live poker.
It’s quick and easy to setup. Once the app opens, a blank poker table will appear where you can pick your seat and then fill in the remaining seats for your opponents. If you click again on your seat you can enter your buy-in amount and also your cash-out amounts to keep a record of profit and loss for each session.
Throughout your live play you will want to take notes on each of your opponents by clicking on their name and inputting the data. There are also tabs at the bottom of the notes section where you can specify whether it’s pre-flop, post-flop or general. The final option is the profile where you can input other stats such as the percentage of hands they have played or how aggressive they are, etc.
Poker Notes Live is a decent attempt at trying to bring a tracking device to live play. However, it is very limited and even upgrading to the premium offers very little additional functionality.

Poker Hands - Available On Android

The Poker Hands app is free
The Poker Hands app is a great way to quickly learn while you're on the go. I like this app because it doesn't try to get too complex with the software and it gives the consumer what they want - poker knowledge.
From the main menu you will see all the features and it give you a textbook approach with plenty of information on each poker topic.
Hand Rankings
The Poker Hands app gives simple yet effective description of each poker hand ranking for beginners.
Positional Play

This is a nice addition, which will tell you some basic strategy - whether to raise, call or fold depending on your position and what action has taken place.
Starting Hands

It will tells you the top 10 best and worst starting hands with brief descriptions of each. This section also provides info on the odds of different starting hands, which is good for a novice to learn the chances of various starting hands.
Unfortunately the remaining features such as blinds timer, nicknames, calculate out odds and news were very disappointing.
Calculating probability of your outs depending on your hand had the potential to be a great tool. Instead of giving examples of certain hand probabilities such as a flush draw, where it would show your 2 hole cards (starting hand) being say AK of hearts with a board of 65J with two hearts, then giving you a statistic of approx 33% to make your hand with the remaining 2 cards to come, it just had a program where you input the number of outs with the number of hands remaining. A novice player will not be able to calculate this as it depends on how many other players are at the table.
This app would be a great for somebody that has just been introduced to the game and wants to try learn the basics. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go into any advance concepts.

Best Video Poker Trainer App

Poker Professor

Video Poker Trainer App Game

Poker Professor is created by Alex Kiss (Columbia University Biostatistics PhD) and it is the perfect tool for crunching numbers and calculating the odds for each poker situation.
It caters for both beginner and more advance players of the game. If you're a beginner you can brush up on the rules of poker or if you're more of a novice you can go straight into calculating odds with basic strategy and odds or more precise calculations for after the flop or turn. This app goes into great details to help you understand your outs, pot odds, implied odds and how to use them to your advantage.
The example scenarios they have on offer are very good and great for improving your poker game. Even if you're an advanced player, this app is a great way to brush up on your skills. In the examples, you will be given the board cards, followed by the size of the pot, your hole cards and size of the bet you're faced with. You will then be quizzed on a variety of areas with questions such as: what is the number of outs?
If you’re a beginner it may seem like a lot to take in, but after some practice the scenarios will become second nature.
Unfortunately, the app isn’t free but it is worth every bit of the $2 you’ve invested.
